, Bead Weaving
Constantly inspired by the beauty and color of Maui, she uses her beads as the palette from which she 'paints' the delicate and sensual colors of her jewelry.
Coleen d’Avignon has been beading since the late 80’s. Originally perfecting her technique in Sedona, Arizona, she applied her beadwork to her hand crafted leather bags that reflected the style of the Southwest. After moving to Maui in 2004, she was introduced to the art of Japanese Kumihimo - this technique, combined with her own, uses 8 strands of beads along with mixtures of freshwater pearls and precious and/or semiprecious gems woven together - to create her one-of-a-kind necklaces.
